The Churches: Welcome indeed! ….. from all of us who make up the church families of the East Richmond Team Ministry! Whether you’re a visitor or a newcomer to the area, or looking for some information, or just curious or arrived here by virtual accident – you are welcome, and we hope that you’ll find something in these pages that is helpful, interesting or both. We’re situated in the top right hand corner of North Yorkshire, in the Anglican Diocese of Ripon and Leeds, roughly between the River Tees to the North, the A1 to the West and the A19 to the East.  We occupy something approaching 200 square miles, and our total population of 5,500 lives in 17 villages and hamlets, which make up 10 ecclesiastical parishes, which have between them 13 active Anglican church buildings! It’s a largely rural area and farming is an important part of life here, but a fair number of us commute to Teeside, Tyneside, York and Leeds, and a fair number have moved here to enjoy a rural retirement, so we’re something of a mixture.  Three major local towns all stand just outside our boundaries, and are important focal points for shopping, recreation, secondary schools and so on – they are Darlington, Richmond and Northallerton.  Between us we have 7 primary schools, a good selection of pubs, several flourishing village shops, and a rich selection of community life. The church buildings range from the fairly new to the very old; many are listed, several of them “Grade 1”, and some are of real historical interest.  Their most important feature though is the people who gather in them on Sundays and through the week, in worship and prayer as we seek to make our spiritual journey together.  It’s that journey, towards God and towards one another, that is at the heart of our ambition (to quote Colossians 1:28) to “present everyone mature in Christ”.
